Rooted in Christian values and service to older adults since 1902, Brethren Retirement Community responded to the changing times in 2009 by creating Brethren Home Community Services, LLC, a wholly-owned and operated subsidiary of Brethren Retirement Community. This new ministry extends our continuum of care to older adults through in-home and adult day services providing the same excellent service and quality of life that has been the cornerstone of our work for over 110 years.

We offer live-in and hourly companionship, laundry, light housekeeping, shopping, transportation, meal preparation, medical reminders, hygiene assistance, respite care for the caregiver and a variety of other tasks to help our clients remain in the comfort of their own home.

Brethren Home Community Services is insured in all aspects and fully-bonded for the protection and security of our clients and caregivers. We believe character is extremely important. We run a comprehensive background screening and drug test on each caregiver. Our caregivers must have experience, complete mandatory training and have a caring, compassionate personality. They are reliable, caring individuals who are valued and trusted; they have a true passion to provide companionship and care to those who desire to age-in-place. Not only are our caregivers given excellent training and support with oversight from a nurse, they are our employees, not sub-contractors, therefore, they have a vested interest in our company as we do in them.

What To Expect

It all begins with a phone call, followed by a free, in-home consultation.  If there is an agreement to proceed, we will start the interview with an in-depth assessment of you, or your loved one’s lifestyle, medical conditions, and the kind of assistance needed to help them remain independent at home. During our meeting, we will explain our services in detail and answer any questions you may have. We spend a lot of time getting to know our client so a care plan can be created and their caregiver can be carefully selected for their unique needs..

Consistency of care is important, so we make every effort to assign consistent caregivers to you, allowing a bond to build between the client and caregiver.

We place a high value on excellent, compassionate care and understand it is a privilege to be invited into your home and that we must earn your trust. We are confident that the people we send into your home to care for your loved one will provide exceptional, quality care and peace of mind for you.

Our goal is to provide you with the best possible service. Our phones are continuously monitored. When you phone us, after hours or on the weekend, if you reach our voice message, we will return your call within thirty minutes. To accommodate busy family schedules, we also schedule initial visits and home visits in the evenings and on weekends.

At Brethren Home Community Services, we believe that your home is just that, “your home” and you are in charge. Our caregiver follows your schedule to keep you comfortable and safe.

Brethren Home Community Services Home Care serves residents within the Brethren Retirement Community Campus and those that reside in Darke, Miami, Preble, Mercer, Shelby, Randolph County and Northern Montgomery County.
